To me, death is the same as fading away.
When you leave, you are reduced to memories that your loved ones desperately hold on to. Your essence remains, just softer, less prominent, until that is gone too.
When you die, you take with you a part of your loved ones, who are affected by you going away.
You dissolve into non-existence, leaving them grasping for you.
